Unfortunately not Nutkin but I do thank you for looking for me, the lady in question is AMY MAUDE NIE  b England 1881 ,according to the 1920 and 1930 census she entered the US in 1903 and was living in Brownville, Maine,  I know at some time prior she wrote from this address which I was told was in Manhattan, 420 West 119th St. New York.

Maybe she did not enter via New York?

If she came by way of NY, after 1892 it would be Elliss Island.  Check their free search and viewing of passenger lists.  There were many ports she could have come by, if in Maine possibly Boston.  Or close by south of NY is Philadelphia.
