Trying to find out information about William SANDERSON and his daughter Mary SANDERSON, both born in HINDLEY.

Mary married George Hardy in Horwich 1844 and subsequently lived in the Bolton area.

On the marriage certificate William Sanderson's occupation is given as "BROKER".

George Hardy (born in Bolton) was the son of William Hardy (a weaver) originally of Altrincham

Hi There........

I think this is possibly your family on the 1841 census......

Great Bolton...

William Sanderson / head / age 35 / Broker / born in County
Ellen Sanderson / age 40 / born in County
John Sanderson / age 15 / Tobacconist / born in County
MARY Sanderson / age 15 / piecer / born in County
Livia Sanderson / age 10 / piecer / born in County
Henry Sanderson / age 9 / born in County

I am not sure if you are aware , but it was quite common for the enumerater to "round up" or "round down" the individuals ages by upto 5 years

Hope this helps

Kind regards

JeannieR
