Just had a quick look on the website William and it looks fascinating, I shall have a look at all the photos when I get home, if it's anything like the town I live in I would imagine it hasn't changed much from these photos. :)

Hi,

Am also researching this family.

Joseph Mayer of Liverpool came from Newcastle, mother Pepper.

Went to Pennant Hall on the Wirral where he lived. Got copy of his family tree somewhere.

Have been trying to tie this family up with Eljah Mayer the potter. Joseph's brothers took over Dale hall pottery when Elijah died. There must be a connection.Can anyone help?

I am looking for a MAYER family originating probably in Hanley, Staffordshire, that included:
1. Catherine MAYER, born c1779, married 1808 London to Matthias Dupont KING (1782-1830), wine merchant, died 1846 St John's Wood, Middlesex, aged 66; (their first son was baptised at Hanley);
2. Martha MAYER, married 1813 Bloomsbury, Middlesex, to Edward KING (1790-1822), merchant (1st cousin to Matthias Dupont KING);
3. Frances MAYER, born c1793, married 1820 Bloomsbury, Middlesex, to Samuel Edward Peacock HALE (1790-1851), oilman, died 1831 St Mildred Poultry, London, aged 36;
4. Joseph MAYER, whose will or intestacy was subject to a suit in the Court of Chancery c1865;
5. Elijah MAYER or Alice MAYER, who married each other in 1806 at Stoke-on-Trent (witnessed by Thomas MAYER + Mary MAYER).
I have connected these by deduction as follows:
1+2: Catherine's and Martha's husband were 1st cousins;
1+3: Catherine's husband was a witness at Frances' wedding;
1+4: Catherine's son received £1,000 as a result of the Chancery suit re Joseph;
2+5: Frances' granddaughter married Elijah and Alice's grandson;
2+3: Martha's granddaughter and Frances' grandson married a brother and sister.
I am anxious to make contact with other researchers who might be interested in the same family.

Hi William

That's right, I have George and Ellen's marriage details, children etc.  My line comes down from their daughter - Clara Matilda.  Thanks for Joseph and Mary parents details, I did not have them as I had not yet got any further back than Joseph and Mary.  I have seen the Lovatt name somewhere in my researching but can't just remember where, I must have a look through my notes.

Better say nite as I have work in the morning, will check back tomorrow.
