What happened to Henry Charles HICKS
« on: Friday 12 November 04 00:01 GMT (UK) »
My G'Uncle Henry James Hicks  born 1886 in Battle to Henry Charles HICKS and Mary Ann.
He is on the 1981 census and the 1901 census, then disappears.  I can't find marriage, death or immigration records relating to him.
His father and mother both died in Battle, 1930/1943.  His sisters married and moved away, my G'mother to Australia.
Would be grateful for anyone locating him post 1901.

The death certificate of the parent who died in 1943 might tell you something. If the sisters were all living elsewhere perhaps he was in attendance. Who reported the death? I have found two valuable pieces of information from death certificates, one of them quite startling.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
