Coalmen's Mission
« on: Friday 03 November 06 00:07 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find out information about the Coalmens mission. I am aware it was founded in 1956 and the hall was at the Queens Bridge,Belfast Northern Ireland. My Great grandfather William Stewart was a founder member and i am aware that the pastor and co founder was a Sammy Spence. Any help or info would be appreciated. i found a newspaper article stating it had been founded in 1956 although i am a ware that the coalmen were going about giving their testament years earlier.

Welcome to RootsChat Gary,

I assume you mean 1856.

You Great-Grandfather William was my Grand-father (David Stewart.s) brother. The Coalmens Mission was founded before 1956 as my Grandfather died in 1954 and he was with the Coal men's Mission for many years prior to his death, I am working on the Stewart family tree and can give you some info or maybe you can give me some details. I also have a photo of the founders taken prior to 1954 and your Grandfather & Great-grandfather and his brother all in the photo.

Welcome to Rootschat. Gary hasn't been here since Nov.2006 but perhaps he'll still be getting notifications of posts to his thread and will return.

Thanks for the welcome, I came across this posting from Gary just doing a Goggle search and I did see that this was posted back in 2006. But I just posted anyway. I would have sent him a PMail but I did not see this as an option.

That's because you have to make at least three posts before you can use PM system (anti-spam measure).
