Looking for the parents of James Myerscough Born abt. 1827 married to Jane Davis 11 May 1851. Preston Lancashire
Marriage certificate lists his father as Richard Myerscough.

Can only find one James Myerscough on the 1841 in the area with the right age.

James Myerscough age 15 apprentice Blacksmith living Forton.


No sign of Richard. Have you tried parish records for James mother's name?

Hi I can't seem to find a parish record for him. Even on the 1851 census he wasn't living with his parents. Could the problem be I need a catholic parish records

On the 1851 census James gives his place of birth as Myerscough. Have you tried the Parish Records for any of the Churches within that area?

Had another good look for Richard and can't see him in the area.

Although this is a belated reply to your post re: Myerscough. and my tree is not related to yours. When I was recently tracing a relative of mine in Preston I came accross an interesting site which may have details of past Myerscough's.

It seems to be a Family name of this area, and if you seach carefully through the site, you may find further information from the various departments, which include a library and other archives and telephone numbers.
