1861 Census - FARRANT
« on: Thursday 09 November 06 21:41 GMT (UK) »
Hi..pretty new to this..

Could someone please look up:

Sarah Farrant (nee Ristall...I think)..born 1834...Suffolk.
Hopefully married to William Farrant born 1827...

I would like to know who was living at the house, I'm hoping that there is a son called James about 15 years old an address if possible and whatever else you might be able to tell me.
thanks in anticipation.
Steve

Hi Steve,

I just moved this over to Suffolk for you. Sorry to say there is no William or James. Sarah has a husband John and three Children. At aged 27 she would be unlikely to have a 15 year old son. Do you still require the details?

Cheers Kris  :'(

Steve,

Just a thought. Is your James definitely from Suffolk? There is a James aged 15 in Surrey with parents named William and Sarah. Also a 19 year old in Hampshire with parents William and Sarah...........Kris  :D

Thanks for putting this in correct place Kris and for being so darned quick! :)

That sounds like them... :)
I have James Thomas Farrant b 1846 in Clare Suffolk...
I have his parents as William and Sarah (nee Ristall)...I know nothing more about her, neither birth, marriage or death dates...

Steve

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately the family I have found are all born in Newington Surrey. The Newington James is in Southwark in both 1851 and 1861 and all children listed in both entries appear to have been born in Newington. I cannot see any Farrant's or like at all born in Suffolk.

I have been having a look about and don't see a birth listed for a James Thomas Farrant or variants. Nor do I see a James born in Suffolk.

I think you will need to go through the complete images quarter by quarter and hope one is listed as James Thomas at

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

I was going to suggest someone on this board may be able to assist with Clare baptisms but with the absence of any Farrant's at all in the census I do not feel hopeful. Do the later entries list Clare as POB?
