I am researching my maternal ancestors Watts, and with the kind help of Heather B & Munchies, have traced back to Edward Watts, sadler, his wife Mary and three children in the 1851 Wotton Census.
The Pigots Directory for 1830 lists the following:
Samual Watts, tailor, High Street Wotton
Joseph Watts, bookseller, Long Street Wotton
Edward Watts, saddler & harness maker, Long Street Wotton
So it appears that there was a strong Watts presence in the town in the early 1800's
Any help in tracing the earlier generations would be appreciated.
