Norfolk to Providence RD? USA
« on: Monday 13 November 06 06:57 GMT (UK) »
Charles Arthur Claxton

Found attestation papers on Canada Archive site he died WW1 - 1918.

He gave his address as 23 Bassett St Providence RD? USA.
Occupation salesman.
His next of kin was given as being in Norfolk (his father).

Would there be any other records to do with his move to USA?

Could someone clarify the address please - would it be Rhode Island?

I would say they meant RI, for Rhode Island. I had a quick look around the census and didn't find him, or any Claxton in Rhode Island. Which Norfolk did you mean? Maybe try contacting a library either where his father lived or where he lived. There might be an obit for him.

Thank you Kath.

I found him on the Commonwealth War Graves Site and he had died whilst serving with the Canadian forces.

His father lived Norfolk UK.

I think he must have only been there a short time before enlisting.
