Looking for the family details of an Edith Ellen ELLIS, her birth was registered Q1 1901 West Derby, Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 240

I had a look at the 1901 Index on Ancestry but no luck...

Is Ellis the right surname? I can see an Edith Ellen Shaw registered W. Derby 8b 240  in the GRO index for Jan-Mar 1901 but no Edith Ellen Ellis.

Hmmm - Thanks for queriying that with me RT.

I posted the original request with the info supplied in good faith.  So it looks like that may be wrong.

So going back to where I started from :

I have a Harold SHAW Married to a Edith Ellis as per Q2 1929 W.Derby
 Vol 8b Page 547

Harold's Birth -  Q4 1904 West Derby, Lancashire Volume: 8b Page: 564


I have their children
Harold B -  Q2 1931 West Derby  Vol 8b Page 856 - mother maiden name Ellis
Edith E M - Q2 1936 Liverpool S Vol 8b Page 110 - - mother maiden name Ellis

There's not really enough to go on just from the GRO index data. I would suggest you order the marriage certificate - which should give you Edith's father's name and occupation, and her age and residence at time of marriage.
