Monnington
« on: Wednesday 22 November 06 02:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking for information on my Grandfather John Leo Monnington, who died in Tamworth 25 Jan 1973.  The informant of his death was Stanley Walter Jones who was I believe the son of the woman my Grandfather lived with.  My Grandfather left his wife and 6 children in approximately 1945 to live with a Mrs Sherring-Jones.  Nobody saw him again.  I am interested to know more about him and what happened.   I have researched his family history and have quite a lot of information, but do not know what occurred between 1945 and 1973.

Thanks for listening,

Cindy x

You could try a letter to the Tamworth Herald. Tamworthherald.co.uk.
Best wishes.

Hi,

Just wanted to update you with my good news.  I duly contacted the Tamworth Herald and today received an email from a relative of Mrs Sherrin-Jones (the woman my Granddad had run off with).   He remembers my Granddad well and has already told me lots about him.  We plan to keep in touch and I hope we will meet up sometime soon  :) :)

Hugs,

Hi,

Thought I'd let you know I had further responses and am in contact with my grandfathers stepson.   He has filled me in on lots of lovely details about my grandfathers life and has promised photos and memorabilia.  It appears my grandfather held a 1st class BA honours degree ~ quite something for a working class boy from Poplar whose father was a labourer and mother a servant.  Well done my granddad  :)

Hugs,
