St Mary's in Berkley, Somerset.
« on: Sunday 26 November 06 11:51 GMT (UK) »
I have just read that the church in Berkley, Somerset named St Mary's was built in 1751.

A couple of my ancestors, James Hill and Mary Threasher, were married in Berkley on 22-11-1735.

I wonder if anyone knows if there was a church in Berkley prior to 1751 or whereabouts they would have been married?

                                 Many Thanks, Paul Hill

Hi According to the church website the registers for Berkley began in 1536. They can do lookups from 1865 but suggest that you contact the Somerset records office for earlier ones. the church is in the Beckington Group of churches if you want to access the website. :) Maggie
