Info on John Holt wanted.
« on: Monday 15 November 04 18:47 GMT (UK) »
My great grandfather x 2 was George Holt baptised in 1807 at St Bartholomew's church Wilmslow Cheshire.  According to the church register his parents were John Holt & Ann of Handforth (part of Wilmslow parish) I can't find any record of John Holt or Ann & would be very greatfull for any info on possible birth, marriage etc.  George & the next 2 generations lived in Wilmslow but I wonder if John & Ann may have come from Lancashire.  George was a cotton then silk weaver so father John may also have been a weaver.
Anything however small welcome.

Hi
I think Handforth was a township in the parish of Cheadle in the  1800's and then became part of Wilmslow in the early 1900's, with this in mind if they were born and married Handforth the parish records you need would be Cheadle St. Mary.

hope this helps
