Yes, looks like it - but I didn't find the marriage in Wambrook, nor Elizabeth's christening.
Is there then a Mary with bbd 1783 Pilton?

Last week went squiffy eyed at Devon, Somerset and Dorset ROs, looking for my Frys perported Wambrook, in the microfiche AND the transcripts.

Only found the christenings of Mary and Amy in Wambrook, 25-Dec-1785 and 25-Jan-1789 respectively. Then on returning to the house found that the third member of our party had found the removal order for them, and the earlier child Elizabeth, from Chardstock to Pilton, so thought good idea to enquire for missing details in Pilton, else why pass the burden of them on to Pilton? I really have no clues apart from this.

Daniel himself was Wambrook, 28-Apr-1757. The register is damaged for this period, but found him in transcriptions. The 1780s portion of the registers is not too bad, and there were two of us looking.

Thanks

Mary and Amy are definitely Wambrook, as is dad Daniel - saw it with my own eyes, so to speak - but no marriage and no earlier children. Apart from Daniel's father, siblings and siblings children there are no other Frys in Wambrook or Chardstock, so they are quite easy to spot.

I have seen the "Wambrook" marriage on familysearch - but it is not IGI - it is a submitted entry - no surname for Mary, no actual date of marriage, just a guess - and possibly they didn't find Elizabeth either.

I had a similar problem with Daniel's brother, William. LDS had him born Ottery St.Mary, so I was chasing an OSM family when I should have persevered with the Wambrook, Chardstock, Membury clues.

Nowadays, I tend to trust the Hugo Wallis IGI batches, but they are not by any means 100% coverage, and treat member submission entries with a pinch of salt - although sometimes they can give you clues.

That looks extremely promising, Borneo!
Have to get the map out now! It's a long walk, but straight up the Fosse Way.
Thanks

Is there by any chance an Elizabeth Fry born in the area between then and the end of 1783? I think that would definitely clinch it.

Very grateful for all the trouble you are all taking.
