I sent an email to the Bishop of Monmouth yesterday inquiring as the location of certain parish registers. This morning I received a very pleasant reply from The Bish himself! He couldn't tell me what I wanted to know but did supply some useful addresses. Thanks, Church in Wales!

That was nice of the Bishop to reply in person.  I don't know if it will help, but if I remember correctly Genuki (http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/parishes.html) mentions where a lot of parishes have been deposited (if at all).  The vast majority seem to be in the GwentRO in Cwmbran, with the Bishop's Transcripts in the National Library in Aberystwyth.
Currently engaging in a one-name study of the Twyman surname.

The Bishop of Monmouth (Dominic) is our bishop ... a gentle, lovely man, and I always get emails answered 'by return' from him.

Here he is ... (on top of Mount Sinai earlier this year !)

I see his shirt is ecclesiastical purple, but at least there is no dog-collar!

That's not a clerical shirt ... hence no dog collar !!  Anyway, most clergy don't wear 'the uniform' on holiday !

Thany you Lydart. That's a great pic. I love putting faces to people, makes it more personal somehow.

I was commentating on the colour rather than the style - purple must get to be a habit.
