what do i do now
« on: Saturday 09 December 06 23:03 GMT (UK) »
a marriage certificate arrived today and i was quite excited until i read it my greatgrandfather john william cooper married alice pritchard in 1911 in no mans heath so far so good i wanted the certificate so i could find their parents names and start researching the families on the census john williams dad is john cooper there are so many i dont really know where they originate from i imagine it would be local i don't know where john william would have been born around 1885 as he is 26 when marriage took place and again i think this would be local but such a common name. Alice would have been born in 1891 i think i have found her and her father thomas. I am so disappointed it is the Cooper family i wanted to reseach. The witnesses are not related so theres nothing to go on there the only other thing i know is that john williams father john cooper is a shepherd. I reall am at a loss at where to go next can anyone help  :'(

OK, so you need to narrow the field.

Search the GRO indexes for the 1885-ish birth of a John William Cooper to turn up candidates.

Then search for those candidates in the 1891 & 1901 census for parental info.
