Hiya Migky,

It depends when your ancestor's military service ended as to where you should look.
Contact Kew for Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended before 1921

The National Archives
Ruskin Avenue,
Kew,
Richmond.
Surrey.
TW9 4DU
Telephone 0208876 3444
The email address is in the link.

Chris.

Hi Migky,
I was fortunate enough to trace my army ancestor who ended his service in Clare Galway. He was in the Rifle Bridgade from 1820 to 1845 and I was fortunate to get his full service career  even down to the number of pairs of socks issued!
Try the site at www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and see if your have the same luck.
