Where is this chapel
« on: Monday 18 December 06 11:29 GMT (UK) »
I have received this photo amongst others. My initial guess is the Dolwyddelan area as another of the photos would appear to be of a farm in Roman Bridge where my ancestors used to live (I have current photos to compare)

Does anyone recognize it and is it still standing?

It is my first ever photo attachment and hope it works

I have a book dated 1993 which describes Dolwyddelan chapel as being a small single chamber. Your photo shows a projection to the left so unless they have built an entrance then I don't think it is Dolwyddelan.
Happy New Year to you :)

I have resized so I could see it better and it is a single chamber building, had a good search for this and can't find it on any of the chapel or church sites in North Wales

Is it definitely a church/chapel?
I don't know anything about Welsh church buildings, but to me the first impression was of a school house, what with the sash windows.

Just a thought!  :)

Thanks WelshGen and PrueM for your thoughts. There is a little more on the subject on the general Wales page. As I didn't have much success I posted there as well.
One of the reasons I thought of Dolwyddellan (besides my family connection) is the other photo that I pasted. Both photos give me and others the impression of the Snowdonia area and this is my only family connection in the general area although others came from Llanidloes (Montgomeryshire) as well as loads from Denbighshire / Flintshire.
The search goes on but I have loads more to follow up.

P.S. Out of interest Prue M we will be in the Sydney area in March (Rooty Hill , Berrillee and Sydney itself)

Hi Peter  :)

March is a nice time to visit Sydney, the weather is not too hot but it's still nice and sunny.  Not too sure about the "delights" of Rooty Hill, but Berrilee could be quite nice, up there near Ku-Ring-Gai Chase NP, and Sydney will be great of course  :D

Jimbach has kindly identified the building in my post as a chapel in Blaenau Dolwyddelan which is now a private house.

My public thanks to him - he pm'd me with the info.
