LDS Site :I didnt do anything wrong
« on: Sunday 24 December 06 15:00 GMT (UK) »
I just tried to do a search on the IGI and got this message

Your access to FamilySearch.org has been temporarily suspended. Your computer or a computer at your location has sent a large volume of requests to FamilySearch.org and as a result access to FamilySearch.org from this location has been temporarily suspended. Usually the suspension occurs when a computer uses software to automate requesting information from FamilySearch.org from any computer in your location. If this message appears again, contact the vendor who sold you your software to obtain the latest release.

Why and how is this?

Just tried myself, and no problems, so not a general problem.

In the early days I inundated them with requests,so not that.

A virus maybe? You could do a scan, just to make sure.

Any other less scary ideas, anyone?

Just a bug, I think - I get the same message occasionally, and when I hit "search " again, it works fine.

Colette,

That happened to me a few times yesterday.  I just waited a bit and then was able to search again.

Colette -

I have gotten the same or similar message but if you keep trying (or wait awhile) it should disappear.  I think it happens when the site is overwhelmed with requests.

Good luck.  :)

It may depend on how many other things you were doing on your PC at the time Colette. More than likely though the LDS machine "got its knickers in a twist" as a friend of mine who was good with PCs used to say. Do you think that expression is technical terminology?
