« on: Wednesday 27 December 06 16:16 GMT (UK) »
i asked gro to perform a search for me which cost 11.50 with certificate. I asked them to search for my great grandfather born in frankton in leicestershire in 1885. They have now sent me a certificate for a john william cooper born in hampton lucy warwickshire in 1886. I don't know if they miss heard me or what went wrong but i am positive this is not the cert i wanted is there anyway i can have any of the money refunded if so how and will they do another search for me?

Surely they would be the better people to ask? I'm sure that they already have a policy in place.

Hi

I think that you have to ring GRO again & ask for Customer Relations to sort it out.

The problem might be that Frankton Leicestershire doesn't appear on the list of villages http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/places/regindex1-2.pdf only the one in Warwickshire which registers at Rugby.

You may have more success with them [the GRO]  if you can tell them where Frankton is near & indicate which registration district they are looking for.  I couldn't see it on the Genuki pages for Leicestershire so can't make any suggestions

Best of luck

What information did you give them for the search? Did you know his parents names?

Frankton was in the Rugby registration district, and is in the county of Warwickshire.

Do you have his marr cert- do you know who his father was and what he did?

If so who were the witnesess to his marriage- often brothers or sisters.

Do you know if he had any siblings- what were their names?

Do you have the family on any censuses- did they always stay around the same area?
