ITALY: Sleeping with the enemy
« on: Saturday 06 January 07 01:47 GMT (UK) »
I have a relative that had a child to an Italian Prisoner of War who was captured when the Italians were on the German side. He was brought to England to live in a camp and work here in the mid 1940s he was allowed to return to Italy in the early 1950s.  He was working on such things as road repairs and she had a shop at the side of this road. She, had had a son to him in 1947 and passed this child off as her husbands. However, it was glaringly apparent that the son was of different stock to his older and a younger sibling, being dark skinned and black haired.  Siblings, fair skinned, hair brown to fair. Son has now got a name for the man which he managed to extract from his mother before she died, how would he go about tracing his natural father whom we presume is in Italy if indeed still alive?

From what i know of, with my own Italian research, i should imagine you need a town of birth!! Without a town its very difficult, but as this is a later birth, than mine, maybe there is another way.

This site is very useful, i would join and ask them.

If you contact the Anglo-Italian FHS they may be able to point you in the right direction or at least give some advice regarding the difficulties faced

Thank you for your interest Guiseppe. However my original post was made in 2007 and since then we have moved on and traced the person concerned. Sorry not to have been any help to you.
