Anyone else researching these families?

LAFLIN (m. ORRISS m. ELLIOTT) Ringshall

Hello janglaschu

I opened a thread about the Irish Society of East Anglia and have just commenced having a look for connections between Ireland and East Anglia including Irish surnames in East Anglis. Most Irish immigrants to Britain tended to settle on the west coast or head for Birmingham and London.

Laflin appears to have Celtic / Scandanavian connections The family probably moved from Ireland and settled in East Anglia.  www.laflin.org/origins.html

PS I do have a few bits on Markham's of Framlingham (again it is for a Markham researcher - not my own research)

SM - I've just seen this post.  Were these bits to do with my Framlingham Markhams?  I recall we've discussed Framlingham Newsons in the past but can't remember whether we've discussed the Markhams :) (Sorry if my memory is failing me...)

janglaschu,

I noted your message regarding Surnames and have a match in Clopton that may be relevant.

I have been researching George Boyns  b. abt 1810 in Clopton and his descendants.

He was a blacksmith and wheelwright by trade.

I am interested in finding out something about his Clopton relations.

I failed to locate him in the 1841 Census unfortunately.

He married Sarah Hayes b. 1823, in Barnet in 1846 (Barnet 6, 859) She came from Hertfordshire.

Shortly after the marriage they moved to Lexden, Essex, where they lived there till the end of his days.

His eldest daughter Lydia Mary Boyns was born in Lexden in 1851.  She is my wife's Great Grandmother.

Other issue followed.

Hi Orkneytim and SuffolkSue!!

Yes, I have some info on this family.
Robert BOINS (b.27/11/1784, Marlesford, son of Robert Boynes and Jane Paternoster) and Mary Osborn marry on 13/04/1805 in Clopton,

their children:
Susan Boynes chr. c. 02/09/1805 (Susan Boynes, infant child of Robert and Mary, died 4 Dec 1805, buried in Clopton)
(also a Sarah Boyns b.04/08/1806 Otley to a Robert Boyns and Mary?)
George Boynes 13/09/1809, Clopton (d.April 1882) - is this your George?
Robert Boynes born 01/09/1810 in Clopton (d. 09/10/1810, buried in Clopton)
Mary b. 01/11/1811, Clopton
Mary Ann b. 04/11/1812, Clopton

also: (?)
(children born in Clopton to Robert Boyns & Mary ?)
Sarah chr. 21/04/1814
Robert chr 24/06/1817 (infant Robert died 26/08/1817, buried Clopton)
Robert chr16/07/1818; buried 1st Sept 1818

I'm still trying to sort out how they tie into my family; I'm sure they're connected, as the Robert Boyns (b. 1749, Hacheston) who married  Jane Paternoster, is the son of Miles Boyns, b.c. 1711, Hacheston - Miles Boynes was my Grt-grandfather's name also. I have a Robert Boynes b. 1811, Hacheston - may send for his death cert to try to establish who his parents were (tho' not sure if English certs contain this info?).

Suffolk, England – Benstead, Boldero, Boldy, Boyns, Boynes, Collins, Cooper, Elliott, Fletcher, Laflin, Laws, Lankester, Markham, Marshall, Orriss, Steward, Taylor, Thimblethorpe
Scotland – Barclay, Campbell, Finlay, Freeland, Grove, Hay, Horn, Laird, McDonald, McKay, Milne, Mills, Peebles, Robertson, Shearer, Stewart, Strang, Thomson

Hi Suffolk Sue and janglaschu,

Thank you both for your help with George Boynes  b 1809 in Clopton.

janglaschu,

George Boynes 13/09/1809 - April 1882 is indeed ours. I have his death registered in December 1882 in Colchester.

I am afraid that in terms of Boyns lineage, George and his wife produced only one son who married late and had no children, so as far as the Boyns name is concerned, the branch terminates. They did however produce 6 daughters.

I will gladly supply you with whatever information you require from this branch to add to your overall tree.

My Boynes line has sadly died out too; sons either never married, had no family, or had girls only. There was one brother of my grandfather's who went to London and may have had a son, but I don't know any more about that line...

Boldero family of Suffolk

The Record Office at Bury St Edmunds has over 80 separate archives on the family.
They also hold a copy of "Boldero Family 1400 – 1986" written by C & J Boldero
