NEEDHAM - looking for Lilian
« on: Sunday 14 January 07 10:38 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace what happened to a grandmother - Lilian May Needham after her husband died on the Somme in 1917.  Her maiden name was Huggins and she was born in Woolwich in 1894.  On the 1901 census she was with a gt aunt - her mother having died.

She married Joseph Needham in Grimsby in 1915 and they had one son before Joseph was killed.  She then "disappeared".  It is not know in the family if she re-married but it is thought not.  When she died is also unknown but it is believed that she stayed in the Grimsby area.

If anyone can help we would be most grateful.

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat!

Marriage 1915 - 2nd quarter - In Grimsby Humberside and Lincolnshire Counties
Lilian M  Huggins
Joseph Needham

There were some marriages that showed up after 1917 for a Lillian M. Huggins as well as a Lilian M. Huggins, but none in the Grimsby area or at least that I could find.

You could try searching these two sites, to see what you come up with.

Thanks - but she would surely have re-married as Lilian May Needham?

I have a copy of the marriage certificate you mention and it is our grandmother, which is why we would like to find what happened to her.

Ancestry is no good beyond about 1917 - they do not seem to have the full records up to 1938 on there yet.

I will try the other site you mention and see what that produces.

Thanks again
