Cornish miners to South Africa
« on: Monday 15 January 07 22:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  Rumour has it that my grandfather who was from St Just,  spent some time in the South African mines sometime before 1929 when he married my gran.  How can I find out if this is true?  Is there a good site to look up passenger lists for S.A?  The story is all a bit vague!    ???   He was born in 1901 and we think he went with his parents & possibly siblings so perhaps he didn't actually work but was still a child.  Hope someone might be able to shed some light on this for me.

Thanks.   ;)

Hi  Rosemary D
If you type in on Google Cornish miners there are dozens of sites one is called Cornish miners and the Witwaterand gold mines, on one site I have seen them listed where they were in the world in the at the time the list was compiled.
