Joseph Taylor - Nelson to Blenhiem to Masterton
« on: Tuesday 16 January 07 14:25 GMT (UK) »
Searching for - Joseph Taylor who immigrated to New Zealand -

His wife - Ann and their 5 children Joseph, John, Thomas, Elizabeth and Hannah (Hannah died in Cook Strait just before they landed), arrived in Nelson in 1859. Joseph the father did not join them- he came to New Zealand seperately - but i don't know when?

Joseph died in 1892 at blenhiem . Cannot find the death details of his wife Ann death - she was 42 in 1859 acording to the passenger list

His son Thomas married atSpring Creek in 1869 and moved to the Masterton region.

All help appreciated - regards - Luc.

Hi Luc

Do you have Joseph's death cert?
If so, does it say if he was married, widower, or when it names the spouse, if she was deceased?

It isn't always stated, but sometimes it is which is a great help......

I did however find this reference to a Probate Record at Archives NZ

Agency = ADBY
Series = 17543
Accession = W5411
Box/item = 6
Record = 207

Maybe someone who lives closer can check this out next time they are visiting, as hopefully it will give details of family members (and therefore if his wife is still alive)

Bren
