« on: Friday 19 January 07 11:23 GMT (UK) »
Can some please check the 1841 & 1851 census for Jesse Larkin born about 1804 and Sophia Larkin born about 1806. I think they were living in Kent at the time and possibly in Cranbrook. Any help appreciated.

This is quite an old request so I don't know if you are still looking for this family in 1851 but I can't see them - could they have emigrated?

This could be Jesse in 1841:
ref HO107 482-10 f5 page 2, all living at the same house in High Street, Eltham
John Poulton age 30 ag lab
Charles Deeks age 30 M S
Henry Detson age 40 ag lab
Jesse Larken age 30 ag lab
Benjamin Relf age 30 ag lab
Stephen Green age 20 ag lab
Thomas Welley? age 30 ag lab
Richard Snachell age 25 ag lab
William Hodson age 45 ag lab
all shown as born in county

There is a Benjamin Relf in Cranbrook on the 1851 census (HO107 1619 f39 p8), with wife Mary and children. Checking back on the 1841, Mary Relf, with children is shown on her own as 'wife of ag lab'. (ref HO107 472-7 f15 p23). So her husband is 'missing' as well.

Hope this helps,
Carol.
