Hi!
Do any of the board members live in Scarborough? If so, I have a request ...
I am an exiled Scarborian who
may get back in the summer to do a bit of digging - not literally of course! - but won't have the opportunity beforehand. My mother tells me that her grandfather and grandmother are buried together in Dean Road Cemetery, and I would love to have a photograph of the headstone, together with the details thereon; there is some doubt over the actual birthdate of the grandmother, and this might just clear it up.
Mum has said that she would go herself with her digital camera, but apparently the place is now awash with smackheads and other ne'er-do-wells, so she daren't go on her own.

Anyway, if anyone can oblige, the details that you will need are as follows ...
GEORGE EDWARD BIRDborn 1870, June quarter, Patrington, volume 9d page 250
died 1923, aged 52, March quarter, Scarborough, volume 9d page 435ELIZA BIRD (nee MOOR)Eliza MOORE (wrong spelling, right age) born 1872 September quarter, Malton, volume 9d page 351
OR ...
Eliza MOOR (right spelling, wrong age) born 1871 September quarter, Malton, volume 9d page 351
died 1953, aged 81, December quarter, Scarborough, volume 1b page 772Big confusion as you can see! Ancestry AND FreeBMD throw up the same references for both Eliza Moor(e)s, namely volume 9d page 351, but there is only
ONE entry, that being for the 1872 birth, with an incorrect 'e' on the end. They can't
BOTH be right!!! I
KNOW that she was a Moor and not Moore as my grandfather always made a point of flagging that up whenever people asked aboutr his mother.
Sorry, but I can't give any help as to exactly WHERE they are buried. Could be a long afternoon for someone ...

Many thanks in anticipation,
Roger
