I had a go before posting and it worked okay for me with a query I used before, so knew it would give some results. Maybe the other children are not in the site records

Yn9man:  I tried again today( it's afternoon in BC.) and I got the same error message, so I too decided to write to them,  as you did.
That was before I checked my E mail and got the notice that a new posting(had been added to the thread  :))  So I am sure soon we  will find out what the problem is.

To others that have posted, thanks for your interest.  ;D and good hunting!

I just got a reply from family Search. It did not help much.

 ( cut and pasted)

I'm sorry you are having trouble with your search.

The Proxy Error and Error reading from remote server means that the particular path that was taken through the internet was temporily blocked. Usually just repeating the request will be successful. If not, you may have to wait a few minutes to repeat your request.

Sincerely,
Family History Support

(end)

This answer seems to imply that they don't understand what I said when I told them I had been trying for three days, and several attempts at a time, also that the 'ordinary search' was no problem,  and only the 'parent search'  brought up the error message.   Surely both searches would go through the same route ?

I have written again.

Another way of finding children from the same family is to click on the batch number that comes up at the bottom of your original search.  You can then put in just the surname and it will bring up every reference on that film.  You can cut it down by putting in parents' names but it is often very useful to see the extended family as well.  Altering the C to an M sometimes brings up marriages too.

At least you got a reply. Maybe they didn't understand what I wrote either.

Thank you very much, Sillgen. These things are worth knowing. I will try your suggestion. :)

I tried again  the  'children of the same parents' search' this morning (PST) and got the same nothingness .

Also, I have not received any answer from my second E mail to LDS explaining that I did not write to them after trying once. (Would anyone do that!?) Also they advised waiting a few minutes before trying again. This is day 4. and I have tried  many times.

They do have a problem. I suppose it will take a lot of E mails before they catch on. Those automated answers that read a few key words in your E mail and send you what they hope is a relevant answer, are often useless.

Janescroft: I forgot to say, please be sure to let us know if you have any success. :)
I have, as I mentioned, been trying for 4 days. You could also try an E mail to them. Perhaps if they hear from enough people it may get their attention.

I visited a LDS family history centre a few days ago and was informed that the internet facility was not available as they were changing internet supplier this was happening throughout the centres in the UK. Not sure if these changes will be affecting the main LDS site.

Hi griz -

Finally received a reply (?) from family search.

To paraphrase ...

Have received my concern ...

I assume you are looking at the Family Search program on the Internet.

If the people you are entering are still living you will see 0 match at the bottom of the page. This is because of privacy.

We hope this information will help you solve the problem. Wish you continued success with your ....

Must have been the way I phrased the problem and questions.

Don't forget to include your CaseId number in future correspondence ... if needed.
