Belfast look-up please - Traynor
« on: Tuesday 23 January 07 22:40 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for any info on the family of Francis Traynor (Trainer/Trayner) born c 1832.  He moved to Hull some time before 1866 and was a hemp dresser.  The 1871 census shows his birthplace as Belfast but I have another source that suggests he was born in Monaghan.  No response to requests in Monaghan so thought I'd try here.
Many thanks.
Leigh

Hello Leigh,

The street directories may show Francis or his father somewhere in Belfast. The 1852 directory does not show Traynor or variations in Monaghan and no Traynor in Belfast but these ones are in Belfast ......

James Trainer, carpenter, 40, Boyd Street
James Trainor, publican, Falls Road
Mary Trainor, 3, York Lane

1843 Belfast directory
John Trainor, dairy keeper, 11 Falls Road.
James Trainor, publican, Falls Road.

1861 Belfast directory
Michael Trainor, bleacher, 21&23 Combermere Street.
Michael Trainor, confectioner, 5 Chapel Lane.
James Trainor, spirit dealer, 40 & 42 Falls Road.
James Trainor, baker and biscuit manufacturer, 221 York Street.
William Trainor, woollen draper and hatter, 20 Bridge Street.

The 1843 & 1861 directories are on line thanks to Mary Lennon.
