baptism 1817 wigan area
« on: Wednesday 24 January 07 16:44 GMT (UK) »
I was in England last week trying to find traces of my Clementson family.

I went to the Wigan records office to try and find Joseph Clementson, born c1817 in Pemberton Orrell/Lamberhead (depending on which census I looked at) but I didn't have any luck.

He married in 1839 in Northumberland but came back to the Wigan area in about 1848 as his daughter Sarah was born in Orrell in 1849.
The only Cleminson I found was for a baptism in 1819 of illigitimate twins (not called Joseph).

On his marriage cert. his father's name is George.
Is there anywhere else I can look for his baptism as I presume he must have been baptised somewhere.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, have you tried the Lancashire Online Parish Clerk website - www.lan-opc.org.uk.

There are lots of different spellings of Clementson on there and you can search the different parishes.

Best of luck
