Hi KRISESJOINT...wondered if you could do me a favour and see what you think of my idea....I looked for john and thoma's mum and dad (Thomas and sarah)as well on the 1871  assuming that one or the other of them was still alive but like john couldnt find either and wasnt given alice ann's maiden name so couldnt look for her. I then had a look at american census for 1880 and some preists turn up all born england one family living in Bridgeport fairfield Conneticutt and in this house is a young man called Thomas Priest with his wife Fanny and son of 3 thoms. Thomas senior is born 1844 same year as johns bro and fanny his wife is born 1851 in england so if that marriage can be traced to newland Glos.it may suggest that after 1851  census Thomas senior and his wife sarah took their family to a new country. The house that thomas junior is living in is also filled with asstd.people from england they too might be traced to this familys town in Glos. John may have been there all through 1861 and 1871 census but returned in time to marry and be on the 1881 census with his family...what do you think...or am i crazy! i would value your opinion before i send bryant of on a wild goose chase.Best wishes cheryle.f

Hi Cheryl Your brain is certainly working to come up with this idea and I would have gone along with u that it is Possible but having checked the 81 census the only Thomas Senior of the right age is the one I found in the workhouse in 1871 still in the workhouse in 81 and still listed as single but the son Thomas is there!...still in Newland yet he also cannot be found in 71...I think they should all be there but I still just cannot find them...I dont have the 61 for Gloucestershire so I cant c where they r then...It is amazing that even just using christian names and where borns that none of them r showing up....Keep that brain of yours working Cheryl U might find them cas I just cant think what else to try....???
