I know this shows terrible ignorance on my part, but is the Lutheran church the same as  Jewish?

Thanks
Gill

The Lutheran church is German Protestant - as in a Christian church

The link gives you a lot more Lutheran and Lutheran affliated churches than just the Swedish Lutheran church and the German, but the original was German in origin.

Here in Australia there is a Lutheran Church
lca.org.au
I have also found in existence in Australia - the Scandanavian Lutheran Church which seems to have integrated with the current church.
A lot of Prussian and German people who settled here in the 1800s were of Lutheran denomination.

It was the German Lutheran Church I was interested in. I have MEINECKEs. GIESSLERs and ASSERT ancestors in the UK and am trying to discover how they came here. They were married in the German Lutheran Church in Whitechapel, but lived in Hull, Yorks. Both routesfrom Bremen (where some were born, not sure if they sailed from there).
But I found some information regarding Jewish immigrants who came to Britain through Hull, and got carried away from there!!
