Graham family to Canada
« on: Saturday 27 January 07 14:24 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to discover when Herbert Albert Graham born 1877 Hastings, Sussex, emigrated to Canada. He died in Quebec, Canada in 1959. He married in Portsmouth in 1897 to Mable White and had at least 5 or 6 children in Sussex. Their 7th & 8th children were born in Quebec in November 1914 so they must have emigrated between 1910-1914. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Mel

Mel,

Have you checked the index to the 1911 census of Canada on Automated Genealogy?  It's being done by volunteers and it isn't complete yet but it's worth a try:

Welcome to Rootschat!

I don't know if your relative was living in Montreal, but here is the link just in case.

I found his Attestation Papers for World War 1

Now at least you will have his address and occupation in 1915.

Here is the link to search. http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/02010602_e.html

This link gives you the information, on how to order the full file.

Here he is in the Directory.

1914 - 1915
http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/src/1914-1915/10.Alphabetical_directory/G/Gr/110643_1914-1915_1330.pdf

I would say a good place to start looking for him on the passenger lists would be 1913, as I couldn't see a Herbert Graham in the 1913-1914 Directory.
