Hi Tazzie and other Collins descendants...
I'm looking into John Collins from the 1841 Census (married to Elizabeth Collins, 39, and had four sons, Noah, 12, Josiah, 10, James, 7 and John, 5.), and I believe he was one of three rioters convicted at the Aylesbury Assizes after the Swing Riots of 1831.
He continues appearing in the Census in Wavendon until 1871, by which time his address is listed as Hardwick Cottage, in modern day Woburn Sands A death of a John Collins is recorded in the Newport Pagnell area in 1879. ‘Thomas’ is used as a forename in some records.
Have you come across this event before?
Paul
