Ontario.Mathew Weir Advice Please

Could do with some advice on this one please.

I have a Mathew Weir b. Ireland 1826,who was found living with his parents
George/Elizabeth Weir/Ware on the 1841 census.Lancs
He was 15 at that time.

I have searched a lot of places for him since but to no avail.
In 1881,on the Canadian census there is a Mathew Weir right age 56,born Ireland,living with his wife Eliza.aged 42.   b. Ontario.+ 4 children.

So between the years 1841/1851 he could have travelled to Canada.

As I cant find him on any of the UK census after 1841,could I/or should I take it that he could be the one I am looking for.

The question now would be, where do I go from here.

Pointers in the right direction please LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Born:  Ireland
Residence when Married:  Belleville
Widower
Occupation:  Labourer
Parents:  James Weire and Mary Deniham (?)

Elizabeth Lawlor
Age:  26
Residence when married:  Belleville
Born:  Ontario
Spinster
Parents:  Daniel Lawlor and Mary Trophy

Religion of Bridgeroom and Bride:  Catholic

Date of Marriage:  May 5, 1878, Belleville, Ontario, County of Hastings


So, with different parents names, do you think this might be your Mathew still?

Don't know what happened there,
posted my reply and all that came up was a smiley.

Here goes again.

Not sure now ,his parents don't match.
Also on the 1881 Canadian census it has her age as being 42.

The address on there is
Belleville,
Hastings West,
Ontario.

That is a coincidence though.

Interesting that he is a widower .

Not sure where to go from here,
any advice would be greatly appreciated

I found a Matthew Weir in Salford Lancs. born c1832 in Ireland living with his wife Kate in the 1861 UK Census?

There is also a death reg. in 1846 in Manchester Lancs. for a Matthew Weir? Vol 20, Page 268?

Are there rumours he may have come to Canada?

Hi Karen,
There was only a hint of a story handed down about Canada.

I wonder now if it was only a story.

I think now the only course for me would be to send off for certs.

The first one you stated b. 1832, is about 6 years out.

Still I've been lucky up to now,all the certs I have sent for,have been the actual ones, no mistakes.

So fingers crossed.

Did Matthew have any siblings?

There is a Matthew Weir on the New York Passenger Lists who was born in Ireland c1828, occupation Weaver, destination United States.

He is travelling with a Thomas Weir, age 26, occupation Weaver and William Weir, age 4.

The port of Departure was Liverpool, England
Arrival Date:  September 27, 1852

Yes he did have siblings.
In the 1841 census,
where he first appears with his parents
George age 40 b Ireland --------father
Elizabeth age 40   "                   mother

Mathew   age 15   "           
James             10 b Liverpool
Gilbert        "     8  "    "

Elizabeth     "     4  "   "
George        "     2  "   "

Chiesnhall Street? St. Martin Liverpool.

Perhaps he mathew moved away to Manchester,
only way to tell though would be to send of for certs.
Want to make sure before I go down that road.
