Did they emigrate, and if so, where?
« on: Sunday 28 January 07 17:29 GMT (UK) »
The last sighting of Alfred Mason that I can find is on the 1881 census (RG11/0259 F23 P39) where he is with his wife Julia and their four children at 42 Russell Road, London.
I have searched the BMD's for marriages and deaths for all of their names to no avail so it looks (to me) as if they might have left the country. Suggestions as to where to begin searching would be welcome.

Hi Peter,

If you think they could have come to Canada, you can search the 1901 and 1911 Census for free at www.automatedgenealogy.com

You can also try and search www.ancestorsonboard.com

Do you have the names of the children?

Karen
Gandley (but known as Stanley in Canada)- Ireland to Birmingham
Ball, Kempson & Franklin - Birmingham
Shorter - Surrey
Dyer - Devon
Dawkins - Co. Cork, Ireland
Heffernan - Ireland
Huck - Alsace, France
Reinhart - Baden, Germany
Bowman & Ellis - England
Etheridge - Gloucestershire

Who all came to Canada in a little row boat, clap clap, clap your hands!!

Hi, Karen.
I've not a clue where they have gone! :-\
The family consisted of Alfred (1850), wife Julia (1849), Children Julia Edith (1874), Alfred Oswald (1876), Herbert Noel (1879) and Ada Alice (1881).
Everybody except for the youngest was born in Bradford. Ada Alice was born in London.
I've looked for them on the Canada Census, with no luck so far.
It looks like another reason to upgrade my Ancestry subs. :'(

I had a very quick look on a couple of US censuses with no luck,
With no censuses to use in Australia, you would have to find a death record probably

Bob
Douglas, Varnden, Joy(i)ce Surrey, Clarke Northants/Hunts, Pullen Worcs/Herefords, Holmes Birmingham/USA/Canada/Australia, Jackson Cheshire/Yorkshire, Lomas Cheshire, Lee Yorkshire, Cocks Lancashire, Leah Cheshire, Cook Yorkshire, Catlow Lancashire

Thank's Bob.
At least I'm beginning to know where they aren't.
They probably been mis-transcribed, although it must be hard to get Mason wrong.
