Births Mar 1879
Stokes  Margaret     St. Geo. East  1c 417

Marriages Mar 1908
STOKES  Margaret Cecilia    St. Giles  1b 659

Since there is not a birth registration for a Margaret Cecilia Stokes you may want to obtain her marriage certificate to check the details for her father unless you are absolutely sure the 1881 census family is correct - especially since the family seem so difficult to find after the 1881 census.

Thank you all for your help, I will have to get the birth cert as my father, now deceased, told me that Margaret's father, his mother, was at first in the Royal Irish Constabulary, then transfered to the Met. The Met refused to transfer his pension rights and he took his case to the House of Commons and he won. But the family think his name was John, my Dad always referred to him as his favorite uncle John. I even have a photo of him in uniform.

Now you've mentioned these extra details, yes I'd agree that the marriage Cert is needed.

The above family jumped straight out with the right name and YoB and District, but it might be worth delving deeper based on the facts you have....

how did you establish the West Ham area as a location ?

Keep us posted !
