Billings/Baskett In North Petherton - COMPLETED

Hi,

I'm completely stuck on my family tree research and need some help please.

My 4 x Great Grandparents were John and Elizabeth Billings, and they had 4 children: Robert, Charles, George and Henrietta. I've got all the census forms from 1841 etc to prove it. They all died as Billings.

However, on John's marriage record, and all the children's baptism records, the surname is Baskett. It has to be the same people, as all the names, dates and locations tie-in.

I'm convinced they all changed name from Baskett to Billings at some point between 1800 and 1840 but I just can't find out why.

As a start, it would be good to know who John Baskett and Elizabeth Kerdle's parents were if possible. Both were born c1780.

Any help much appreciated.
