Okay, here's an I. I think it's definitely a capital T, but that's very lateral thinking as Meles pointed out :D

Bless you, Mo, but there are no fewer than 17 Elizabeth Sheards who died in the West Riding between 1851 and 1861, 5 of them in Dewsbury district. The Mirfield/Dewsbury/Thornhill/Batley area is positively crawling with Sheards, there's one on every corner. 8 Joseph Sheards died in Dewsbury district between 1841 and 1851...I'll probably never find the right one... :( Thanks for trying, though!

Cheers,
China

Not sure if any of these fit but I've found the following marriages of Joseph Sheard in Mirfield  -

Elizabeth Oates 24th May 1827.
Eliza Hirst, 27 Nov 1834
 Elizabeth Jessop 27 Dec 1835
Elizabeth Sheard 26 Decenber 1811

Any of these worth following up in Scotland, China?

Hi Gadget,

I've been staring at the IGI all day...

Hannah was born in 1817, so it has to be before that. There are only 2 in the IGI that are likely, the one with Elizabeth Sheard in 1811, and another with Elizabeth Blakeley in 1814 in Wakefield.

Wouldn't you just know it, there were two Joseph & Elizabeth Sheards producing children in Mirfield, and I think the marriage with Elizabeth Sheard marrying Joseph Sheard is the "other" one. My Joseph is a cloth miller, and the other one is a fuller. The other Elizabeth is from Mirfield.

So, I've been trying to find a Joseph and Elizabeth Sheard in the Wakefield district in the 1841 census. The triumphant absence of such a family would prove that it must be my lot, married in Wakefield but never living there! Am I getting desperate or what!!! ;D In a single day (I just got the marriage cert in the mail yesterday)!!!

Cheers,
China

No Elizabeth Sheard ever lived, married or died in Scotland, ever. According to the IGI.

Searching for Elizabeth Bl*kl*y in the OPR's  for Glasgow City returned only one but born in 1847 ... much too late.

Trongate (Tron - Gate) is certainly in Glasgow as posted earlier

here is a view in 1770
