WW2 - How can I find out his regiment? COMPLETED THANKS
« on: Tuesday 13 February 07 16:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I would love to find out which regiment my grandfather served in during WW2.

Unfortunately, I have no idea where to start, can someone give me any  advice pease?

This is the information I have for him:

He was an Army Gunner, based in France, Germany,  the Shetland Isles and the East Coast of England.  Thankfully, he survived the war.

Many thanks

Dolly

Hi Dolly

Have you got a photo of him from the period?

Are you, or are you in contact with his next of kin?  Perhaps you could apply for his service record?

Hi Dolly,

It sounds like he could have been in one of the Artillery regiments, if you have a photograph of him in uniform, as Wendi has suggested, post it here and someone maybe able to help you in identifying his unit/regiment.
