Rosslee Co. Mayo
« on: Thursday 15 February 07 03:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi I'm looking for a place in Co. Mayo called Rosslee.
I think my great great grandparents got married there before coming to South Australia in 1840.
Can you help me please

There is a civil Parish in Co, Mayo Rosslee in the Barony of Carra.
But there are 21 Townlands in Mayo that have the civil Parish Rosslee.
                                    Lep :)

Wondering did you find information you needed on Rosslee Parish in County Mayo?  It is located just slightly west of Mayo Abbey, Claremorris.

What family name do you think comes from this area?  I have family from there also, Prendergast and have Griffith's Valuation for that area if you want me to look up your family name on it let me know.

Wondering did you get all the information I sent, not sure if I did it right.  There is Joyce's in Ballynamuddagh, Graddoge, Cloonflynn, Cloghannageeragh, with Brennan's in Graddoge and Weatherfort.  The !838 Ordnance Survery Maps can be seen online at www.mayolibrary.ie/en/LocalStudies.  All the towlands are in the same area of Rosslee, but there is no Parish Church.  The Local Church is either Mayo Abbey or Carnacon.

I have also found Gerry at the South Mayo Family Research Centre invaluable in my family search, know it costs a few pounds but will worth it.

Let me know if I can be of any further help.
