PEACE, Mary Louisa 1861, 1891, 1901 - COMPLETED WITH THANKS!!!
« on: Thursday 15 February 07 12:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Mary Louisa PEACE was born 1844 RD Ecclesall Bierlow and died 1905 RD Sheffield.

She is on 1851, 1871 with her parents in Nether Hallam and with her widowed mother in Bradfield 1881. ( Mother died 1882)  She does not appear to have ever married.

Could anyone please find her in 1891 and 1901 - there is a possibilty she may be in Bradfield Wortley or Stannington areas,  or else probably Ecclesalll Bierlow Nether Hallam etc.   I also don't have her in 1861 - she is not with her parents - can anyone spot her?

I would also like to ask : if she is found in the later Census, are there any notations made in the far right column of the Census page?

Cheers and Thanks - all help much appreciated  ;D

PS this topic dealt with her parents on Census, FYI:

Hi AMBLY

1901 census, Nether Hallam - 53 Northfield Road
RG 13/4339 folio 133 pg 19

Mary Surtees; head; wid; 81; living on own means; Yorkshire, Deepcar, Sheffield
Mary L Peace; serv; s; 57; gen serv dom; Deepcar

Nothing in the end column, sorry

Also, found an entry in 1861 for a Louisa Peace aged 18 as wife of David Peace.  She had a brother David, could this be a mix up or did her brother marry a Louisa?

Thanks SandraC!

That looks like her in 1901,

Yes, Her brother David did marry a girl named Louise - the same age roughly as his sister Mary Louisa.

Cheers, I appreciate your help!

Huh!

That sort of thing should be banned!  Especially with more unusual names like Louisa  ::)

Sorry, can't see her at the moment in 1891 or 1861 - going to get some lunch & hopefully try again later.

Hi Ambly,
I have a 'possible' for the 1861 census: RG9/3464 109 15 - Fir Street, Nether Hallam. This is not far from where a lot of your other PEACE families lived. On the website I use she is indexed as Mary S PEAD but I have looked at the image and am conviced that it is PEACE. She is listed as a general servant to Henry A RAWSON 25 carpenter YKS Sheffield and his wife Hannah 21 YKS Sheffield.
  Hope this helps - Dave

Hi Dave

I think you're probably very right and this is Mary Louisa in 1861; on the Sheffield Records Online, they've indexed her as Mary S PEACE - I hadn't put the 2 &  2 together myself, but of course I should know an "L" can often be seen as an "S" (by Enumerator's filling in a Schedule book and copying from the House sheets, I mean  :P)

Hi Sandra,
And when they start marrying cousins with the same name as their mother, there's really problems  ;D (as has happened elsewhere)

So that just leave Mary Louisa MIA in 1891 then!

Cheers and many thanks!

Hi everyone

Just to say, Mary Louise has "come out in the wash" in 1891 - she in the same house she was in with her mother a decade before, her age being a wee bit out.

This topic found her:

Thanks to all for your help!

Cheers  ;D
