As you are asking for a 1901 lookup - you must already have them on the 1891 so would you please post FULL details of the 1891 census entry  including birthplaces and birthyears of Edward & Mary as you only say that the children were baptised in Farcet - not where they were born or when

Highly unlikely that any of the children were still at home by 1901 given their birthyears

Have you looked on the PRO 1901 index for an entry to check they were still alive by 1901.  If they married in 1839 they would have been in their late 70's early 80's by 1901

Because of the surname - you need to use the advanced search facility

Thank you - No, I don not have the 1891 Census details, what I have is:

1861 census.  RG9/964/135/24
Edward SMITH, Head, M, 54, Ag. Lab. Farcet
Mary, Wife,46,Fruiterer, Hunts. Farcet
     and their 12 children.

1871 Census England Huntingdonshire Yaxley
RG10/1515/33/4
High Street
Mary SMITH, wid., 56, Hunts. Farcet
       and her 5 children

1881 Census England Huntingdonshire Yaxley
RG11/1590/21/14
Mary SMITH, 66, Grocer, Hunts. Farcet
Emma, Dau, unm. 30 Hunts. Farcet
Anna, Dau. unm. 27. Hunts, Farcet
Christmas, Son, unm. 22. Ag. Lab. Hunts. Yaxley

So, I know that Edward SMITH must have died between 1861 and 1871, but Mary SMITH was still alive in 1881.

So, maybe the 1891 Census will help with Mary

  Sorry for the misinformation,      OSBORN???

As they were living in Huntingdonshire on previous censuses - why have you posted your message on the Cambridge board?  Also - as you knew that Edward died before 1871 why did you include his name in your request - very misleading?

The only Mary Smith b circa 1815 living in Hunts in 1891 was b in Great Staughton and was living with her unmarried daughter Elizabeth aged 45.  Both were shown as living on own means
The address was just Highway - Great Staughton

The only one b Hunts and living in Cambridge was b 1814 Abbotsley and was living with her daughter and son in law John & Ann Bennett.  Ann Bennett was b 1847 Tetworth
