Hello both

I think that the IGI ref and census entry found by Pels look good.
There is this death on Free BMD

Mar 1866

Atkinson  William  31  Northallerton  9d 351

Which could explain why I have found Ann in London with an uncle and aunt in 1871. Will post details in a minute. This would help explain how Charles and Ann met.

Heather told me this as well. If that's the only atkinson familly living in London, origin from Northallerton, then you'ved cracked it !  :-*

Hope you don't mind Claire but I'm adding this here to save anyone else covering the same ground....

You asked me about another birth registration for Ann Elizabeth Atkinson

April/June 1863, Northallerton 9d-471

I believe this is the girl ...as Brompton fell within Northallerton registration district

1871 RG10 4863 101 7/8
Water End,Brompton, Northallerton, Yorkshire
All born Brompton
William Atkinson head 38 handloom linen weaver
Hannah wife 35
Mary H dau 11
Ann E dau 8
Levi son 5
Nathaniel son 3

However, in 1891 when your Annie was known to be married off to Charles, the one above was still at home with parents.

RG12 4026 78A 6
Water End Brompton
William Atkinson head 58
HAnnah wife 54
John son 35
Ann Elizabeth dau single 28
Nathaniel son 23

So no, I don't think the 1863 registration is yours. But that's just my opinion based on what I can glean from the census.

Sorry, almost forgot you asked about a Charles Burchell registered in Lambeth 1861....whether this could be Annie's husband.

Lambeth as a parish is just south of the River Thames. As a registration district it fell at first into Surrey and then London.

My only real objection to this one is the link with Frances Burchell. She is the only Burchell we can say is definitely connected to him as her husband was his marriage witness.

Frances gave her birthplace as Middlesex. Someone born in the Lambeth district might say birthplace London or Surrey, but never Middlesex.

I also can't find a suitable Charles born in that district on the census, but someone else might spot something.

Not even sure I should have posted this here but I'm trying to keep your queries on this family in one place :)
