Chester House of Industry. 1851
« on: Tuesday 20 February 07 04:46 GMT (UK) »
I read with interest the posts regarding  "Liverpool Workhouse"  I am wondering if anyone knows of a site with information regarding births at Chester House of Industry (Workhouse) in 1851,
I have my gggrandmother living and working there 1841/51 and my ggrandmother being born there, both Eliza Clubbe. On my ggrandmothers marriage certificate (to Daniel Moores) it gives her fathers name as Thomas Clubbe.(Chester) I can find no record of him or of any marriage between him and gggrandmother.   I have been struggling with this for a few years, any help or ifnormation greatly appreciated....Joyce.

Hi Joyce,

try Peter Ramsbotham's workhouse site http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/

more specifically:
http://users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse/Chester/Chester.shtml

It includes a description, map, a photo and an address for records
