1820-1850 passenger lists New York
« on: Tuesday 20 February 07 13:25 GMT (UK) »
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me.  I'm trying to find when Joseph Carden (b1812, Wainfleet, Lincolnshire) and his wife Hannah (b1813, Polperro, Cornwall) went to the USA.  They had a daughter, Betsey, who was born in New York in 1841, the family must have come back to England because Betsey was christened here on 26th September 1841.
Not sure if they went to the USA to live and then changed their minds or just to visit.

Thanks in advance
Fiona

I thought immigrants only came through Ellis Island from 1892 onwards ? I'm looking for people that entered around 1840 will I still be able to find them on there ?

The New York 1820-1850 passenger lists show a Joseph Carden aged 28 and an Anna Carden aged 27 arriving 25 May 1840 on the Sir E Hamilton, having sailed from Hull.  No other information.

Thanks Gallium

That looks like it could be them, seems Hannah/Anna had her baby in the US and then they came home.

Thanks again
