Searching Marriage for TODD
« on: Wednesday 21 February 07 21:14 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the Hastie family tree in Berwick on Tweed. Philip Hastie  B. 1834 married a Mary Todd B. 1834. There are two Mary Todd's born in Berwick at this time. does any one know which one married Philip.
Many thanks

Not conclusive (by a long way), but I see one of the Marys was Mary Learmont Todd, and a Mary Learmont Pearson died in South Shields District, Sep Q 1849.

(Ammendment)

But oh heck, that makes her very young to be anybody's wife. Sorry

Hi Heather

If you find no other way of determining the parents of Mary who married Philip, a marriage certificate should give her fathers name.

Just a guess, not very scientific   :) but I would guess shes the one with the father named John and sister Margaret on the 1841 census - on familysearch theres the christening of a Margaret Todd in Berwick with parents John and Margaret, so chances are Mary named her children after her parents as was the tradition in those days I believe..... certificate would confirm of course....

Many thanks for all the help.I cannot find a marriage recorded anywhere for a Mary Todd and Philip Hastie. I have records of all the children and of them living together.
