advice wanted please
« on: Wednesday 21 February 07 22:24 GMT (UK) »
I was hoping to write to the Stepney Registrar's Office and ask them for a search but according to Goggle they closed it in 1983, does anyone have any idea where I go from here please.

Thanks Patrish.

Thanks Newbie,

I have phoned them, very nice but unfortunately they said they can only do a search if the exact district is know as there are some 40 sub dist in Stepney and they are not computerised. :(

She  suggested that these births may never have been registered so I am now going to check the parish records for baptisms using the dates that I have as a starting point. she also suggested I start with the parish church of St. Dunstans.    I see a long day ahead of me at the met archives . ;D ;D

oh dear, no luck on the gro indexes then? I found mine there first, and then asked them to confirm before sending the cert, they were very good, I had the cert back within a week!
Good luck at the LMA I am due for lots of research trips once the decorating is finished!

You are dead right there Newbie,  ;)  I have scoured the index's under the fathers and mothers name ::) other chatters have looked also, but there are DOB's in a family bible so that where I will start, after all they must have come from somewhere.  :o
