death Certificate
« on: Wednesday 07 March 07 07:05 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone be able to tell me who I could write to to  obtain a death certificate. The death occurred in 1856 & was buried at Mt. Jerome Cemetery.

I am curious to see who was present at the time of death & what the person died of.

Thank you.

Hi Maystan

You need to know the district, vol, page number of the index.

If you post the name, date and place here, we can look up the info, then you can apply to the GRO for the cert.

It doesn't look as though you need all that much information, but I might be wrong!

(Assuming you mean the Dublin cemetery?)

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

If it is Ireland you are talking about- death registration only began in 1864, so no certificate will be available before then.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thank you Aghadowey & Arranroots for a response. I had hoped that these earlier deaths could be found elsewhere in some index.  Oh well I'll just have to keep wondering. :(
