They would have been 57 and 56 in 1871 I am trying to find the names of all their children so probably need to go back to 1851

Thank you

Hi Jane

Sorry we haven't been able to help you so far on this one.

Have you made any progress,  or do you have any further details that could help someone to find what you are looking for?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Hi Jane,

I noticed that two of their children were born in Aberdeen( in 1851 & 1853 ) so looked at the baptism records to see if it gave any info about an address to look up. Unfortunately it didn't.  I did find these on the IGI.

Children of Archibald Spark and Barbara Reith.

Ann Spark  25 Dec 1839 Montrose
Archibald Spark  10 March 1841 Montrose
Mary Spark  2 Feb 1843 Montrose
Alexander Spark  5 Feb 1845 Montrose
John Spark 26 Jan 1847 Montrose
James Spark  24 Jan 1849 Montrose
Archibald Spark born 10 June 1851 chr. 10 July 1851 St Nicholas, Aberdeen
William Arthur Spark born 11 July 1853 chr. 13 Aug 1853 St Nicholas, Aberdeen
Robert Reith Spark born 7 Sept 1855 Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire.

At the christening of Archibald Spark in 1851 in Aberdeen, one of the witnesses is Robert Spark, druggist.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
Robert.

Robert

That is very interesting.

I have the IGIs for the children from LDS website and some birth registration records

But where did you get the witness info from for Archibald?

Have just returned from a trip to Banchory and found tombstone with Robert Reith druggist on it so your info definately ties him to the family

He must be Archibald's uncle

Cheers

Jane

hi,

I got the the info from looking at the OPR entry.

You may already have this info, but I noticed that Barbara Reith was married in Drumoak. I found a Barbara Reith(spelt Reeth in the OPR) born in Drumoak in 1813. Maybe this is your Barbara. Her parents were John Reith(shoemaker) and Ann Findlay. She had 10 siblings(including a Robert), if you don't have the info I will post it here for you.

Robert.

Hi Jane

Don't know if there is a connection, but I have a Jane Reith, christened Banchory Ternan 13.01.1777, married William Christie, died 05.11.1856 @ Banchory Devenick in my husband's tree.

Jane's parents were Alexander Reith and Janett Douglas, who were married @ Banchory Ternan (or banns called anyway) 05.07.1774.

Regards

Ellen.

Thanks for your help - indeed the Barbara Reith you describe is my Great great Grandmother.

Robert Reith the druggist is her brother, I do have the siblings thank you.

There are quite a few Reiths buried at Drumoak Church.

I also visited Woodhead at Banchory where Barbara died and the present occupier didn't think I was mad!!
